My Second Favorite Day of the Week

You all know Friday is my favorite day of the week. I think that is true for 95% of the population. Thursday was second because it was my only Zumba night for a long, long time. Well, that and it gets me one more day closer to Friday. LOL. Ever since Bonefish started “Bang Bang Wednesday” though, Wednesdays have moved up on the list.

Actually, there are several other reasons to love Wednesdays: you know you’re halfway through the week, cheap movie night at Old Town Warren (can’t beat $5 movie tickets; not so cheap after you buy dinner and drinks, though), Zumba with Gina Ann at East Central Genesis. Of course, “Bang Bang Wednesday” is the number one reason that I love Wednesdays.

Misty, Brian and I were originally planning on watching Hall Pass but we had the date wrong. The movie didn’t come out until this weekend, so we were too early for it. Thus, we moved “cheap movie night” to this coming week and went for Plan B (B is for Bang Bang Shrimp) instead.

It actually worked out because I had forgotten about my laser appointment right after work, so I couldn’t have gone to the movies anyway. We just went from my laser appointment straight to Bonefish. We arrived just in time for our 6:30 pm dinner reservation.

Anyway, the whole reason we love “Bang Bang Wednesday” is that it’s really the only night that you can eat at Bonefish for relatively cheap. You can have the discounted Bang Bang Shrimp and a couple of glasses of the Pomegranate Mango Sangria (which, though not as good as mine, is super delicious) and still keep your bill under $25. Do not go there famished, though, because you’ll end up ordering a bunch of food and just jack up your bill. It’s just like going to the supermarket hungry. Don’t do it. LOL.

If Brian and I would have been smarter (or at least, planned ahead), we’d have had a late lunch or a larger lunch. Then we could have gone to Bonefish and been satisfied with just the Bang Bang Shrimp. Oh, well.

Hindsight is always 20/20. The only thing I was really ticked about is that I didn’t get to eat my other crab cake. I was starving so I wanted to order more than just the shrimp and edamame. I knew that I would be somewhat full from eating them though, so I decided to compromise by just ordering some crab cakes (in lieu of a full entree that I knew for sure I would not be able to finish).

I got so full from all the food that I couldn’t finish my crab cakes either. I love their crab cakes though, so I decided to take the other crab cake home. We just left it on the kitchen counter since I planned on eating it after an hour and a half break or so. I must have been totally buzzed from my two glasses of sangria because I totally forgot all about it. I woke up the next morning thoroughly disappointed that I didn’t get to eat my other crab cake. I wouldn’t have been so disappointed if the crab cakes weren’t so delicious. I could probably eat a dozen of those if doing so couldn’t make you fat. LOL.

BTW, speaking of cheap movie night… We’re going to see Hall Pass this Wednesday if any of you want to join us. You know where we will be. Hope to see you there! =)

Where’s the Sangria?

Sunny told me that she was talking about the sangria at last Saturday’s party on the air and gave out the url to Foodies. I was thinking that the sangria recipe originally posted on July 4th might not be that easy to find (if you type “sangria” in the search, it actually comes up as the second item and not the first one) so I’m going to repost it here.

1 large bottle lambrusco
1 1/2 cup of orange juice
1 small can of frozen lemonade concentrate
1 litre of Fresca
slices of fruit (optional)

I scratched the fruit off on Saturday because I didn’t want to mess with slicing and stuff, specially since I was at someone else’s house. It still turned out okay. For this recipe, the fruit is optional because it is really mostly decorative. You get the fruit flavor from the juices.

I only brought one 3 litre bottle of lambrusco because I didn’t know how many people were coming, and I didn’t realize how much everyone would like it. Don’t be like me. Be prepared and buy several bottles of everything.

BTW, I’m sequestering my mom’s punch bowl and making Sangria for tonight also. Brian and I are going to experiment and make some non-alcoholic kind also using Welch’s grape juice, so we will have both varieties. One with a kick and one without. The non-alcoholic is mostly for him and the kids. This way they can feel like grown ups. =P

Best Sangria Recipe

1 1/2 cup of orange juice
1 small can of lemonade concentrate

This is the most delicious sangria recipe I’ve ever tasted. Enjoy! =)
