We’re Sliding Back Into Our Old Ways
I’ve been slipping lately and eating out more than I should. It was worth it though, as Brian and I had a very nice lunch with Jarrica and Mark at Caffe Moderne. I love, love, love that place. It used to be one of our favorite lunch spots. Here are some of our food photos from lunch yesterday. Enjoy!
If Only I Could Forget My Lunch Everyday
Brian and I forgot to bring our lunches on Thursday so we ended up eating lunch that day at Cafe Bel Ami. I went there with Jan and the Verint trainers the week prior and told Brian about it. It had been several years since his last Cafe Bel Ami experience so we decided it was a good option for lunch.
Cafe Bel Ami proved to be a great choice. Brian was not disappointed. He had the Chicken Bel Ami and he said it was delicious! If only we could forget to bring our lunch everyday. LOL.
I had my usual. Bo-ring! I know. It’s really good, though, so I always get it when I’m there. I find what I like and stick to it.
We had the same server that we had the previous week. Brian thought he was pompous. I thought he was just overly formal. He kept calling Jan and I “madam,” which made me feel really old. What cracked me up, though, is that he referred to Brian as “governor.”
I told Brian that if he keeps calling him “governor,” I’m going to have to insist on being referred to as “mayor.” I am, after all, mayor of the place on FourSquare. Brian laughed but managed to avoid spraying his drink all over the place.
“I’ll still out-rank you,” he retorted. Whatever.
Cosentino’s Market
Our next stop was Cosentino’s Market to get the bunk $50 dollar KOHL’s gift card replaced. We figured we would take care of that first before having lunch. Neither of us were starving after all.
I’m glad we decided to go to the market first because, as it turns out, you don’t have to pay for parking if you’re just going to the market. Normally, it’s like $2+ or something. I’m happy any time we can save money. LOL.
We originally planned on returning to McFadden’s Sports Saloon and having lunch there. However, after walking around Cosentino’s, we decided to just grab a bite to eat there. Mostly, I think we were both tired. We just wanted to eat lunch and head home.
Cosentino’s has the best looking pastries. Check these out.
They taste great too. The one thing that caught my attention, however, was the chocolate croissants. I hadn’t seen those since we left Couples in Jamaica. That’s where I tried chocolate croissants for the first time. They’re so delicious! I had them almost everyday while we were there.
I didn’t get any this time. I wish I had, though. I am craving one right now. I did get a slice of chocolate cake for Brian (his favorite there) and zebra cake for myself. I think they call mine zebra cake because it is made with both white and chocolate cakes.
Lunch was a pretty quick affair. Mostly, we were there to resolve the gift card situation, which incidentally turned into the most expensive gift card ever because we decided to also play poker besides just driving to Kansas City to get it replaced. Ugh. That was our choice, though.
It would’ve been nicer if we’d have won some money in the process. Oh, well. Sometimes things just don’t go your way.
