Sometimes I Miss Eating Out

Sometimes I miss eating out. Specially when there’s good music involved.

Brian and I decided to take a break from eating in by dining out at Granite City last night. The weather was perfect and Charles Withers, who is phenomenal, was performing on the patio.

Brian and I shared some beer, waffle fries with GC dip (so very bad for you, I’m sure) and prosciutto flatbread pizza.

Brian and I both really liked the flatbread pizza. It was yummy.

I think that’s what we will get there from now on.

I had an “outdoor concert” after our meal. I just needed something to get rid of the beer taste. In case you haven’t noticed, I’m not that fond of beer. Brian wanted me to help him drink his pitcher, though.

After dinner Gina Ann drove us home in the Jag. That car is nice! Thanks for the ride home, Gina! You are the best!

GC Patio Night

Brian and I broke our vow of not eating out (again) on Tuesday night so that we could watch Charles Withers perform on the patio at Granite City East.

We decided to walk to the restaurant, which was great in theory, but not so much in execution. It was really hot! We were both sweaty by the time we got to the restaurant. Not from the long walk (because our place is really close to the restaurant) but from the heat. Wow!

When we break our diet, we pretty much go all out. LOL.

Brian liked his burrito, but couldn’t finish it.

I usually get the Mediterranean chicken because I’m lame.

Misty got the salmon. It looked really yummy. I wish I would have gotten it. JW says that the BBQ chicken flatbread pizza is really good there. I guess we will have to try it next time.

Speaking of next time, Charles Withers will be back at GC East again on August 9. You all should go check him out. He’s awesome!

All You Can Eat French Fries

French fries were my contribution to Cory and April’s wiener party.

I was making French fries for over an hour! We made some in the oven and also fried some in a wok. We finally realized that the fried French fries were better than the oven-baked ones because the fried ones were crispy, so we gave up baking them and I just made the fries in batches. Now I know what it feels like to work at McDonald’s. LOL. =P

The key to crispy French fries is making sure that your oil is hot enough. I think a lot of people start too soon, before the oil is at the right temperature and they end up with limp fries. Blech.

What made our French fries more awesome was the Granite City signature dip. We got some from Granite City earlier that day when we were there for our mystery shop. That dip is super delicious!

Brunch at Granite City

I’d forgotten how good brunch is at Granite City Food and Brewery. That’s where we went today before my Beta Gamma Sigma induction ceremony at WSU. The food was fantastic!

I really, really like the cheesy hashbrowns. Maybe it was just perfectly done today, but I didn’t remember it being so good. I had a couple of bites of Brian’s chocolate muffin, too. That was really good as well.

The cinnamon rolls were smaller than I remembered, but they were fantastic as always. I didn’t get to have any French toast because I was too full, but the French toast there is great too. I think I found a new favorite place to have brunch. :-)
