Post Zumba Woodchucks
We joined Amie, CJ, Kourtney, Gina Ann and others at Buffalo Wild Wings again on Thursday night for the final post Zumba Woodchucks of 2011. Although, I think this will be our final one for a long time because Brian and I don’t like to go out on work nights because we like getting to work super early in the morning.
Since we weren’t going to be going out for after Zumba drinks in the foreseeable future, I made sure to get food pictures this time around. LOL.
Incidentally, Thursday night is a great night to go to BWW because it’s the night they have their boneless wings for only .60 cents each! Though, I’ve been told that the flat bread pizza is the thing to get. However, the last two times we’ve been there, their oven has been broken so it wasn’t an option. We will just have to return for post Zumba drinks sometime in 2012 and try it. Add that to my already growing list of New Year’s resolutions!
Where’s the Sangria?
Sunny told me that she was talking about the sangria at last Saturday’s party on the air and gave out the url to Foodies. I was thinking that the sangria recipe originally posted on July 4th might not be that easy to find (if you type “sangria” in the search, it actually comes up as the second item and not the first one) so I’m going to repost it here.
1 large bottle lambrusco
1 1/2 cup of orange juice
1 small can of frozen lemonade concentrate
1 litre of Fresca
slices of fruit (optional)
I scratched the fruit off on Saturday because I didn’t want to mess with slicing and stuff, specially since I was at someone else’s house. It still turned out okay. For this recipe, the fruit is optional because it is really mostly decorative. You get the fruit flavor from the juices.
I only brought one 3 litre bottle of lambrusco because I didn’t know how many people were coming, and I didn’t realize how much everyone would like it. Don’t be like me. Be prepared and buy several bottles of everything.
BTW, I’m sequestering my mom’s punch bowl and making Sangria for tonight also. Brian and I are going to experiment and make some non-alcoholic kind also using Welch’s grape juice, so we will have both varieties. One with a kick and one without. The non-alcoholic is mostly for him and the kids. This way they can feel like grown ups. =P
Rude Cosmopolitan
NOTE: I got this drink recipe from Bree’s facebook. So if you don’t like it you can blame her. Just kidding!

1 1/4 oz. Jose Cuervo Classico
1/4 oz Grand Marnier (or other orange flavored liqueur)
Juice from a whole lime
1 oz cranberry juice
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with orange peel.

For those of you crazy about Bonefish Grill’s yummy pomegranate martini (I know Jan, Darcy and I all are), here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Fris Vodka
.75 oz Monin Pomegranate Syrup
.75 oz Monin Mango Syrup
Place all ingredients into a shaker tin filled with ice. Cover and shake vigorously 20 times. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 3 skewered grapes placed on edge of glass.
Darcy and Jan both have attempted this. They came close but could not completely duplicate the taste. Darcy said it might be because she is using different brands of syrup.
You should be able to find Fris Vodka at any decent liquor store. This brand is relatively easy to find. The challenging part is finding Monin syrups. I’m not sure where you can find them at your local grocery store or supermarket, but Monin syrups can be purchased online for about $6 per 750 ML bottle from Lollicup, CoffeeAm, Barista Pro Shop, and other similar vendors. You may be able to find some on Amazon also; although, these may be through third-party sellers.
Good luck and happy mixing!
