Foodies is a term used to describe people who enjoy creating elaborate meals, love dining out, or have a special interest in food in general. Besides the usual culinary experimentation, foodies are keenly aware of openings and closings of local restaurants.
The term was originally coined by Gael Greene, Paul Levy, and Ann Barr, co-authors of The Official Foodie Handbook (1984). Though sometimes used as a synonym for gourmet, it is important to understand the distinction. Some gourmets would not consider themselves foodies and many foodies would not consider themselves gourmets.
This web site is a place for foodies to share their passion for food. Members can share recipes and cooking tips with one another, talk about their favorite restaurants and chefs, and provide feedback on each other’s creations.
This site is by foodies for foodies. Enjoy!
