Lasagna Rollatini with Chicken
Brian and I were at Sam’s Club yesterday and decided to have lunch at Carrabba’s. Much to our disappointment, they don’t open until three o’clock on Saturdays. They really should be open for lunch. They are missing out on a lot of customers.
Anyway, I was craving Italian food — spaghetti and meatballs to be exact — after watching Alton Brown make meatballs on the Food Channel. I talked Brian into going to Olive Garden with me. We figured that we’d be able to get in right away because it was already one o’clock. Not so. There was a fifteen minute wait for first available. We were set on Italian so we stayed. Some of these people (like Brian and I for instance) really could have gone to Carrabba’s — IF THEY WERE OPEN!
It all worked out for the best, though. We were seated before our fifteen minutes was up and we got to try one of the new specials, lasagna rollatini with chicken. I’m usually the adventurous one. However, since I was craving spaghetti and meatballs I settled for the more traditional meal. I substituted capellini for spaghetti, though. Not because I always have to change something, but because I prefer the skinnier pasta noodles.
Brian decided to be adventurous and ordered the special. I was really glad he did because I got try a couple of bites. It was delicious! I’m seriously thinking of going again this weekend and ordering it myself. So, in a way, I’m kind of glad that Carrabba’s was closed. If they had been open, we would not have had any reason to go to Olive Garden and I never would have gotten the chance to try the new dish.
