The Better Egg

The Good Egg finally has some real competition. A Jimmy’s Egg franchise just opened about a block from our house. It is next to Malaysia Cafe and just a stone’s throw from The Good Egg. I ate breakfast there yesterday with Brian’s parents and then I took Brian there today for a late breakfast / early lunch meal.

I really liked the green and yellow walls. It made me think of avocados, one of my favorite fruits. I don’t remember what the location looked like inside when it was Rolly Polly, but it is really nice and bright in there.

Jimmy’s Egg prices are really good. Yesterday Donna had French toast and they were humongous! David has biscuit debris, which is like Brian’s breakfast gumbo only it’s missing eggs. I had the Popeye’s revenge omelet and cinnamon raisin bread and hot chocolate. All three of us ate for less than what it normally costs Brian and I to eat at The Good Egg.

The food tastes pretty good. I like the crunchy hash browns. I think the only thing I didn’t like was that the servers didn’t listen well. I asked for Popeye’s revenge with tomatoes instead of mushrooms and my omelet still had mushrooms in it. I was there with Mom and Dad B so I decided not to complain to the waitress. I just picked the mushrooms off. I wasn’t very happy about having to pick them off, though.

Today, Brian had the biscuit debris with two fried eggs added. They got the fried eggs right. Normally, Brian will ask for eggs fried hard and the eggs will still be runny inside. These were cooked properly so they got bonus points for that. However, they gave him hashbrowns instead of the country fries that he asked for. We had a different server this time, but still poor on the listening part.

I had the hash and jack omelet this time around. It was really good, but I think I would prefer just hash next time and no cheese. Oh, and I would have liked to have had hot chocolate again but they ran out. Must have been a busy weekend. =P

Also, Jimmy’s Egg has free wi-fi. I think Brian and I have found a new favorite breakfast place.

Had lunch at Jimmie’s Egg today. Very good. Had a bacon burger and home fries. Portions were large and the burger was very good. All the dressing for the burger comes on the side, so you can fix it up the way you like it.
